Developed in collaboration with Kyoto-based Sato Kiyomatsu Shoten (佐藤喜代松商店), a lacquer specialist founded in Nishijin in 1921, KISSUL combines natural Urushi craftsmanship with double-walled vacuum-insulated stainless steel. Applied by hand, the Urushi transforms the cool surface of metal into a warm, tactile matte finish.
Inspired by the 17th-century soba-choko, its versatile form is suited to coffee, tea, chilled drinks, desserts and small dishes. The vacuum construction helps keep drinks hot or cold while reducing external heat and condensation.
A specialized high-temperature curing process makes KISSUL dishwasher safe. As each cup is finished by hand, subtle variations in color, brush marks and texture are part of its individual character.
