OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Japanese craft, chosen for life today.

De Ma Chambre means “From My Room.” I’m Heekyung Nozaki, its founder.

For years in Tokyo, I moved between work, family, deadlines and the next thing to do. The sudden loss of a close friend made me stop waiting for “someday.” I moved to the Netherlands and began building a life with more room to appreciate the everyday.

From Europe, I also began to see Japan differently. Japanese design was often represented by traditional motifs or souvenir-style objects, while the refined, contemporary pieces familiar in Japan were much harder to find. I started De Ma Chambre to share this quieter, more modern side of Japanese craft.

I choose every piece myself. I pay attention to the materials, the skill behind its making, how it feels in the hand and whether it can live naturally in a contemporary home. Being made in Japan is not enough. It must also be something I would genuinely want to use and keep in my own room.

The collection brings together incense from Awaji Island, glass from Osaka, urushi lacquerware from Kyoto and fragrance from Kyushu. Different in origin and technique, each piece is chosen for the character it brings to ordinary moments.

A room is where we return to ourselves. I hope these objects help make yours feel more personal, calm and truly your own.

Live today. Love my life.
